Pepperjack vs OurGroceries: Shared Grocery Lists Compared

Pepperjack pairs household sharing with a smarter trip through the store. Every plan is ad-free, and Plus adds predicted aisle locations and item prices at supported US stores. OurGroceries covers shared lists across platforms; Pepperjack is built for iPhone households that want their list to help with the shopping itself. Supported-store predictions require Plus at participating Walmart, H-E-B, Kroger, and Meijer locations in the US; coverage varies and prices are estimates.

The Pepperjack difference

Both group by aisle; only one looks up the aisle

OurGroceries automatically groups items into grocery-store categories and lets you arrange those categories to match your store. Pepperjack Base includes the same grouping at any store. At a supported store, Pepperjack Plus goes one step further and looks each item up at that exact location, so the list shows "Aisle 7" rather than "Pantry" and sorts into the order you will walk. OurGroceries has no store-specific aisle data.

Prices and totals

OurGroceries does not track or estimate prices. Pepperjack Plus fills in a predicted price per item at supported stores and shows an estimated list total. It is a planning number: brand, size, and in-store offers can change what you pay at the register.

Platforms and voice

OurGroceries runs on iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, and in a browser, and it has one of the better Alexa integrations for adding items by voice. Pepperjack is iPhone-only (iOS 18 or later) with no web version and no Alexa. A mixed iPhone-and-Android household cannot share a Pepperjack list.

Ads and price

OurGroceries is free with ads on a few screens, and roughly $1 a month, $6 a year, or $20 once removes them for everyone you share with; nothing else is paywalled. Pepperjack has no ads on any plan. Base ($2.99 a month or $29.99 a year) includes unlimited shared lists; Plus ($8.99 a month, $59.99 a year, or $199 once) adds aisles and prices. On price alone, OurGroceries is the cheaper app by a wide margin.

Questions people ask

Is Pepperjack free like OurGroceries?
No. OurGroceries offers a free plan with ads. New Pepperjack list owners need Base or Plus; both include unlimited shared lists without ads. Eligible Base subscribers get a 14-day trial. Invited members are covered by the owner's active plan or grandfathered access.
Does OurGroceries sort by aisle?
It groups items into categories you can order to match your store. It does not look up the aisle number at a specific location; Pepperjack Plus does that at supported Walmart, H-E-B, Kroger, and Meijer stores.
Which syncs faster?
Both update shared lists in real time. OurGroceries is known for very fast sync; Pepperjack pushes adds and check-offs to everyone on the list as they happen. In normal use you will not notice a difference on either.
Does Pepperjack have an Android app?
No. Pepperjack requires an iPhone on iOS 18 or later, and everyone sharing the list needs one. OurGroceries runs on Android, iPhone, and the web.
How do I move my list over?
There is no importer. Screenshot the OurGroceries list and use Pepperjack's add-from-photo to read the items in, or type them; the list remembers what you buy from then on.
